Mohamed Meziane, Algeria’s Minister of Communication and special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was received on Saturday in Nairobi by Kenyan President William Ruto. The Special Envoy was accompanied by Algeria’s candidate for Vice-Chair of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Selma Hadadi and the Algerian Ambassador to Kenya H.E Boumediene Mahi. The meeting, which underscores Algeria’s commitment to deepening its ties with Kenya, reflects the growing importance of African solidarity in addressing regional and continental challenges. During the meeting, Meziane delivered a personal letter from President Tebboune to his Kenyan counterpart. In this letter, President Tebboune conveyed his warm fraternal greetings and reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with Kenya.
The discussions provided an invaluable opportunity to exchange views on various dimensions of the bilateral relationship between Algeria and Kenya. Both parties explored pathways to broaden their collaboration in areas of mutual interest, aligning with the strategic vision of Presidents Tebboune and President Ruto to elevate the Algeria-Kenya partnership to new heights. A key focus of the dialogue was on enhancing cooperation across sectors to foster sustainable development and address common challenges as the leaders’ shared ambition to advance their partnership in a manner that reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two nations.
The meeting also delved into pressing continental issues, particularly the need for institutional reform within the African Union. Both leaders underscored the urgency of pursuing dialogue and coordination on pivotal African matters to enhance the organization’s efficacy and unity. Reaffirming their commitment to a cohesive African agenda, Meziane and Ruto stressed the importance of permanent consultation and coordination between Algeria and Kenya. Their discussion highlighted the shared belief that collaboration between African nations is essential for fostering peace, stability, and prosperity across the continent.
