Welcome to the visa for an alien seeking a visa to enter Algeria.

Foreigners wishing to visit Algeria must present a passport upon arrival valid provided with an entrance on the Algerian territory issued by the Embassy or Consulate of Algeria usual place of residence of the applicant visa. With the exception of countries where visa is not required (see list of countries).

Circulation and residence of foreigners in Algeria are governed by the following:

Presidential -Decree No. 03-251 of 19 July 2003 on the situation of foreigners in Algeria.

-Law No. 08-11 of 25 June 2008 on the conditions for entry, stay and movement of foreigners in Algeria.

All Nationals of foreign countries not included in the following table require a visa to enter Algeria

Nationals from the following countries do not require a visa to travel to Algeria:

Who can apply for a visa?

The Embassy of Algeria in Nairobi will process visa applications made by applicants residing in the Kenya only. Others foreign citizens must provide proof of residence in the Kenya;

Regardless their age, kids traveling with parents need a visa. Application must be made should they use their own passport to travel. In case kids are on the parent's passport, only two photographs are required in addition to the parent's application.

Please read carefully the instructions before filling out the application forms in duplicate. Answer all the questions on the application form and fill out all the sections of the form. For example, if your parents are deceased, give their full names. Do not leave the section blank and do not write “Deceased”.

Remember to submit your passport when you apply for a visa and please attach two standard passport-size photos (glued or stapled). Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, untouched, taken on white background and showing applicant wearing no glasses of any kind, except for prescription eyewear. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued.

Both forms must bear the original signature of the applicant.

Business Visa applicants must include a letter on official letterhead from their employer stating the purpose of their trip (original no copy, mail or fax), and the full names and addresses of their contacts in Algeria. Applicants must submit with their application an invitation letter from the Algerian company they intend to visit.

Work Visa Applicants must submit with their visa application an employment authorization delivered by the Algerian Ministry of Labor. The Embassy will not accept any authorization faxed or mailed separately.

Tourism Visa applicants must submit an itinerary of their airline travel and a confirmed Hotel reservation in Algeria.

Family Guest Visits: Applicants must provide with their application an invitation from their host in Algeria and notarized at the city hall of the place of residence of the Algerian host. The Embassy will not accept invitations faxed or sent separately.

Visa fees:

Visa fees vary according to the visa type, duration of stay, number of entries (single or multiple) and the nationality of the applicant.

The visa fees are paid only by cash (Dollar USD)

For Kenyan citizens:

• One entry 50 USD
• Multiple entries: 100 USD

Period of stay (durée de séjour):

Definition of ‘period of sojourn’ (durée du séjour) on multiple entry visa

You can stay the whole granted period (durée du séjour) consecutively just for one time or you can stay for several times by deducting the number of days you have stayed during your previous stay with the current visa.

Though, even if you didn’t used all the days of sojourn, you should quit the country before the expire date of visa.

Category visa to enter Algeria

Diplomatic visa, service, courtesy:

Press accreditation visa: 

The processing time for a Press accreditation visa application for Algeria is minimum of twenty (20) days, before the date of your departure in Algeria. Some files may get extra processing time. Therefore, submit your visa application early enough.

• Specific application form press visa, three (3) copies, properly completed and signed,
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.

Tourist visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.
• For Minor children join a parents' identity extract birth certificate and a copy of a piece.
• Copy of Airlines ticket (round trip)
• International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow fever)
• Copy of international vaccination certificate (yellow fever)
• An invitation letter or proof of accommodation, including name, relationship and address during the stay in Algeria. The signing of the hosts must be authenticated by the commune of residence.
• Or, failing that, a letter prepared by binding booking a hotel in Algeria and covering the entire length of stay.
• Travel insurance certificate.

Business Visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.
• Copy of Airlines ticket (round trip)
• International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow fever)
• Copy of international vaccination certificate (yellow fever)
• Engagement letter issued by the employer stating the purpose of the trip,
• Invitation letter from the Algerian partner or letter of commitment or mission order from the employer of the visa applicant organization (original).
• Hotel reservation or certificate supported by the inviting organization.
• The Additional information form concerning the company's professional activity
• Air ticket return with photocopying.

Student Visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

• Proof of enrollment in a public or private educational institution accredited by the state.
• Justificaty Ways to support studies and resources.

Work Visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate

• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

• Temporary work permit issued by the relevant authorities in charge of employment and certificate under these same services, whereby the employing organization is committed to support the repatriation of foreign worker dice breaking the relationship job.

Temporary work visa:

• The temporary work visa is issued to a foreign holder of a service contract or service delivery made by himself or his employer organization with a company or an organization carrying on business in Algeria.

Family Visa:

• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

• Evidence that the relationship between the applicant and the person or family in front of the house.
• Travel insurance certificate.

Medical visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

Cultural visa:

• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.
• For Minor children join a parents' identity extract birth certificate and a copy of a piece.

• Copy of the invitation to any seminar or cultural event, scientific or sporting
• Supporting resources for length of stay.

Group visas:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.

• (This type of visa is issued to foreigners traveling under a collective passport valid)

Transit Visa:

• The completed visa application carefully and legibly completed in duplicate
• The passport valid for more than (06) six months from the date of filing of the application and a copy of the page, which identity and address.
• (02) Two recent passport photos, and the same 3.5 x 4.5. The photo ID with your name and surname on the back to stick on the visa form: in original and in color.
• For Minor children join a parents' identity extract birth certificate and a copy of a piece.
• Copy of Airlines ticket

• Passport of more than six months validity the endorsement valid in the country of final destination -
• Proof of financial means for the duration of transit.

Important information:

Complete documentation is required. Incomplete documentation or neglect to include a document or to fill out the forms correctly may delay the processing time or the documents being returned to applicant at cost.

Processing of an application may be delayed, if prior agreement by Algerian authorities is required. Furthermore, the Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation from any applicant. It is not the responsibility of the Embassy if there is any delay in the processing of the visa application.

Applicants should make travel arrangements to Algeria based on the date of entry indicated on their visa. Applicants should not arrive in Algeria before that date; they will not be allowed to enter. In case of change in travel plans, applicants must apply for a new visa.

• Incomplete applications will not be accepted;
• The incorporation of visa applications (certificate of accommodation, engagement letter,) must be provided compulsorily original version;
• The visa requirements are subject to payment in cash of the chancery dues on the day of filing (in USD);
• A receipt of fees collected may be issued to each applicant;
