Algerian Community in Nairobi Commemorates 63rd Independence and Youth Day Anniversary
The Algerian community in Nairobi, under the auspices of the Algerian Embassy, gathered on Saturday, July 5, 2025, to commemorate the sixty-third anniversary of Algeria’s Independence and Youth Day. The ceremony opened with a solemn moment as attendees raised the national flag, listened to the national anthem, and recited Al-Fatihah to honor the souls of Algeria’s fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom.
In her address to the community, the Charge d’Affaires, Madam Kahina Tounsi, paid tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the Algerian people during the 132 years of colonial rule. She highlighted the resilience and unwavering spirit of resistance that eventually culminated in the historic liberation revolution, which cost the lives of millions but secured Algeria’s long-awaited independence.
The Charge d’Affaires Madam Tounsi also emphasized the commitment of Algeria’s public leadership, led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to preserving the memory and significance of Independence Day. She commended the active participation and unity of the Algerian community in Nairobi, urging them to cherish and honor this pivotal history on every occasion.
Her speech further outlined the key political directions of the New Algeria under President Tebboune’s administration, citing significant achievements in recent years across the political, economic, and social spheres. This progress, she noted, is a testament to the nation’s enduring commitment to development and prosperity while staying true to its revolutionary values.
The commemoration concluded with a gathering at the embassy headquarters, where attendees shared refreshments in a spirit of unity and remembrance, paying homage to Algeria’s honorable martyrs and celebrating the resilience of the Algerian people. The event underscored the enduring pride and patriotism that bind Algerians together, both at home and abroad.
Long live Algeria... Glory and eternity to our honorable martyrs!
