Message of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of the commemoration of the (69) anniversary of Student's Day (May 19, 1956 / 2025), as follows:
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of messengers,
On this day, when our daughters and sons, the students, celebrate National Student's Day, I am pleased to greet the Algerian youth who flock to university campuses, striving for success with the ambition of those eager to contribute to building a strong and victorious Algeria. Following the example of the pioneers of the past, and recalling - on this occasion - a generation imbued with the national spirit, who chose on May 19, 1956, in the midst of the glorious liberation revolution, to leave the university campus and join the armed struggle front... confirming with that historic uprising that the Algerian people are free and determined to remain free, and that nothing is more important than responding to the call of Freedom in the immortal November 1st Declaration. You, my students, are fully aware that your great country, with its glorious history, faced harsh conditions and enormous challenges on the eve of independence to make up for the terrible backwardness perpetuated by the hateful colonialism in the field of education, with its policy of ignorance and deprivation, and attempts to obliterate the personality and national identity.
Algeria, with its will, was able to Nationals are able to overcome these difficult situations and build an honorable national university system, with an integrated pedagogical framework, and with structures and facilities that cover all parts of the country, respond to the requirements of universities and university students, and provide the conditions for scientific and cognitive achievement in a climate befitting this promising generation... which is reflected in the numbers of Graduates from institutes and universities, mobilized financial resources, and mobilized human energies will make the Algerian university, in the new, victorious Algeria, a fundamental engine in the country's drive to develop and diversify economic activity.
On this occasion, I renew the state's keenness to further push the Algerian university and the training system at various levels and specializations, to link it to the economic reality and the paths of transformation towards a knowledge economy... and to put in place the mechanisms capable of integrating university youth and graduates of training institutes into the movement of these inevitable transformations towards An open, diversified, and competitive economy, especially through facilitating and supporting the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises. In this regard, I express our great pride in the achievements of the outstanding and brilliant students in our universities, in terms of leadership and brilliance in innovation and creativity, and keeping pace with the most advanced and precise technologies in the world.
I congratulate the students, both male and female. The builders of today's Algeria, the standard-bearers of their ancestors, the martyrs Amara Rachid and Taleb Abdel Rahman, and others who have inscribed their immortal names in the pages of Algeria's glory and pride.”
